If you’re looking to spend a night or two on the ranch…

For veteran dino diggers we have a new lodging option!

Our land owners have decided to retire and move into town. This means that the old ranch house is now open and available to rent on select nights during the summer. If you have dug with us in the past and are tired of driving back and forth to town each day, we invite you to rent the berm home for a night or two and stay out on the prairie under a clear South Dakota sky. Watch the sunsets from the peaceful rocking chairs on the front patio!

The House

After a hard day of digging, unwind in this totally unique, but entirely comfortable, custom made berm home (surrounded on all three sides and roof by earth). The ranch house has two bedroom (1 king and one queen bed) and two bathrooms. Fully stocked country kitchen with big windows out onto the ranch. Cozy living room and wood burning stove. Continental breakfast is provided, but lunch and dinners are on your own. This home sleeps 4 comfortably, 5 with someone on the couch. Bring your linens and some steaks and enjoy an authentic, western South Dakota ranch.

The Landscape

If you are sick of the city life and really want to get away from it all, a stay on the Deers Ears Ranch is exactly what you need. After a tough day of digging, why drive all the way back to town, check into a motel, look for a restaurant, etc. If you are doing a multi-day trip, stay on the ranch itself and save a few dollars in fuel. Watch the evening sunset or watch the storms roll across the grasslands. Have a nice relaxing morning watching the sunrise while snapping some photos of the local wildlife. Deer, antelope, coyotes, fox, bobcat, wild turkey, grouse, owls, eagles, various birds (even a stray moose) all make this prairie their home and you’ll be right there with them… at least for a couple nights.
